Child Labour Eradication: National Committee holds 6th coordination meeting

Member of the State Administration Council Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae in his capacity as Chairman of the National Committee on Elimination of Child Labour addressed the Committee’s 6th coordination meeting on Monday afternoon.

In this meeting at the Ministry of Labour in Nay Pyi Taw, the Union Minister stressed that the National Action Plan for the Eradication of Child Labour in the country is being implemented through three 5-year action plans since 2019 in industrial, manufacturing and commerce sectors in Kayin State, Mon State, Bago Region, Yangon Region and Ayeyawaddy Region.

The 1st action plan is designed to cover accurate basic data collecting, awareness and capacity building, educational and vocational opportunities creating and legal drafting and implementation.

In the implementation of the action plan for the elimination of child labour, all must pay attention to awareness raising activities. The nation's future can be created only if children develop physically and mentally, the Union Minister added.

Also, Vice Chairman of the Committee Union Minister U Myint Naung and attendees made discussions on implementation of the National Action Plan for the Eradication of Child Labour and decisions made in the 5th coordination meeting as well as tasks by 8 work committees.

It’s reported that at the fifth meeting, 17 decisions were made, and except for 6 decisions that must be carried out continuously, the rest of the decisions have been implemented.
