Disaster Preparedness Measures: Mitigation efforts for strong wind damages

Mon State Government is implementing the preventative measure for pre-monsoon natural disaster under the guidance of Mon State Natural Disaster Management Committee.

As part of the activities, repairing processes were carried out for the needy facilities in some wards of Mawlamyaine Township including Mu Pun, Kyauk Tan and Shwe Myaing Thiri on Wednesday.

Mon State Social Affairs Minister U Myat Tawin and departmental officials encouraged local residents, Myanmar Police Force, members of Myanmar Red Cross Society and volunteers who participated in the process.

A total of 1,700 households from 5 wards were provided with necessary reinforced works in order to reduce the damages caused by strong wind as much as possible. During 2023-2024 Fiscal Year, over 670.4 million kyats including cash and relief aids were provided for a total of 58 natural disasters in Mon State.
