Dramatic flood rescues in Wollongong

Firefighters in New South Wales pulled off a dramatic rescue in Wollongong, a city south of Sydney, after they were called there when a motorist became stranded in rushing flood water on April 6.

Over 150 people have reportedly been rescued amid severe flooding in eastern NSW with dozens of rescues carried out Sydney amid dangerous flooding in low-lying areas. Sydney saw almost a month’s worth of rain on Friday with 111 mm of rainfall over the 24 hours, forcing thousands to evacuate the outskirts of the city.
