Drum and Bugle Competition: 11 School bands in Yangon Region participated

To commemorate the 76th Anniversary of Independence Day, the opening ceremony of School Drum and Bugle Skill Competition of the Basic Education Schools in Yangon Region was held at People’s Square in Yangon at 7:30 am on Thursday in the presence of Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and many other concerned officials.

At the ceremony, the Chief Minister took the salute of Drum and Bugle.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stressed the crucial role of creating a good learning environment to nurture the students to become the qualified citizens who can shoulder the duties of the nation. The competition aims at strengthening the physical strength and sport spirit of the students, uplifting patriotic spirit, prestige and integrity through sports and physical activities and improving interpersonal and team work skills of the students, he added. He also called the basic education schools to actively participate in School Drum and Bugle Skill Competition and to continue sharpening the drum and bugle corps skills of the schools.

Then, the School Drum and Bugle contestant teams left the ground. It was followed by performances of the representative drum and bugle and pom-pom dance troupes.

Afterward, the attendees were served with breakfast.

The competition will be conducted from 22nd to 24th of December at People’s Square and a total of 11 Basic Education Schools in Yangon Region will be participated in the competition. There will be 10 judges for the competition from Tatmadaw Music Band and Myanmar Police Force Music Band.

It’s reported that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th prizes will be awarded to the winning teams respectively and also the consolation prizes will be awarded.Additionally, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5thbest mace bearer prizes will be awarded.
