Economic Development: Mandalay Int’l Trade Fair & Investment Forum opens

The opening ceremony of Mandalay International Trade Fair and Investment Forum 2023 was held at Mandalay Convention Center on Wednesday. The forum is held with the aims to develop investments through the connection between domestic and foreign businesses and to promote MSMEs in Mandalay region.

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn and Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Region Government Ministers, Diplomats from Foreign Embassies, Chiarmen of UMFCCI and MRCCI, representatives from Yunna, Dehong, Hunan Chambers of Commerce, departmental officials and business persons attended the occasion.

First, the Union Ministers and party formally opened Mandalay International Trade Fair & Investment Forum 2023 by cutting ceremonial ribbon and observed the displayed booths. in the subsequent Forum, Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw said that Mandalay is connecting major trade routes where the industrial works are developed and is supporting for improving the economic cooperation. He added that there are many potentials to enhance domestic production while MSMEs are getting involved in the production chains of investment and called for the cooperative efforts for State’s economic development.

Next, Union Minister U Tun Ohn said that such International Trade Fairs in the country jointly organized by Government and Private sector could enhance the domestic production, meeting local and foreign business persons and support the export sector development. He continued to say that it is also needed to be able to participate in the International Trade Fairs by the local manufacturers and entrepreneurs.

Also, the Mandalay Region Chief Minister presented about implementations for MSME’s sustainable development, UMFCCI Chairman on its efforts for MSME businesses and turning out entrepreneurs in the country and Chairman of MRCCI explained about the objectives of holding the Trade Fair and work implementation measures of MRCCI. After that, the MOU signings were made for the Investments in Mandalay region.

In the afternoon, the Union Ministers and party visited Europe and Asia Beverages Company Limited, producing milk, soy milk and drinking water with 100 percent Myanamar Citizen Investment with the permission of Myanmar Investment Commission in Sintgaing Township of Mandalay region and Sunjin Myanmar Company Limited manufacturing animal feeds and related items with one hundred percent Korea Citizen Investment. The officials reported the matters that are needed to be fulfilled.

The Union Ministers and Region Chief Ministers discussed about extending investments, enhancing products and exporting quality products, market penetration, use of local raw materials, boosting CSR, and ensuring that wastes from the factories do not impact on the environment. Then, they inspected the production processes of the factories.
