Solar-powered Water purifiers were transported to villages of Rakhine State and works were carried out for clean water access.

These solar-powered water purifiers can purify 1,500 liters of water per hour which is enough for more than 100 households.

Deputy Director General, Department of Rural development, Soe Than said " We have now sent 20 solar-powered water purifiers to the villages of Rakhine State which have dirty rain reservoirs and we will install. In addition, village development project was approved for 100 villages in Rakhine State in this Budget year. Soon after the cyclone ‘MOCHA’, we sent 220 Life Straw water purifiers that can purify 12 liters per hour – it’s only for one household. We started using this mobile solar-powered water purifiers after the cyclone hit the country. Having a solar water purifier is enough for a village."

According to the department of rural development, plans are underway to help villages have water in front of the houses without having to go to the water source. About 4,700 villages in Myanmar have been already installed with tap water meter system.
