Seven critically endangered Javan slow lorises were released into the jungles of Indonesia's Gunung Halimun Salak National Park on Java Island on Friday. These primates, endemic to the island, were rehabilitated animals, according to International Animal Rescue.

The dedicated rescue team traversed wet, muddy terrains within the conservation area to release the lorises into their natural habitat. Javan slow lorises have experienced a significant population decline at least in the last two decades, primarily due to habitat loss, fragmentation, and illegal animal trade.
