Energy Sector: Union Minister inspects oil field and fertilizer factory

Union Minister for Energy U Myo Myint Oo on Thursday visited the PyaLo test oil field, inspected the drilling of the oil well NW-1-1 and hear report on information on the geology and geophysics of oil well and the oil well drilling conditions.

In his response, the Union Minister called on experts not to harm the environment due to the drilling process and stressed work safety before providing fruits and nutritious foods. There, the he also inspected completion of the drilling of the well NW-3-1, heard report on test condition and stressed the importance of work safety and fire incident prevention.

On the same day, the Union Minister met with officials and staff of the No. 3 Fertilizer Factory (Kyawzwa).

In this meeting at the factory, he heard report on the previous operational status of the factory and works done to enable the suspended factory to resume operation, and that the factory has now returned to a state where it can produce CO2, the focus is on safety in re-operating the factory, urea fertilizer will be manufactured soon and efforts will be made for continuous manufacturing.

In his response, the Union Minister said that it’s necessary to improve the domestic production of urea fertilizers needed for the development of the country's agricultural sector and it’s also necessary to strictly follow the specified occupational regulations regarding workplace safety.

He also called on concerned officials to pay attention not to harm the environment while re-operating the factory. After the meeting, the Union Minister inspected repair of the machines to re-operate the factory and gave necessary instructions.
