A French woman has broken the world rope climbing record after reaching the second floor of the Eiffel Tower on Wednesday.

Anouk Garnier,34 years old, climbed 110 meters in 18 minutes to set a new high and raise money for cancer prevention and support. Garnier said she had prepared for a year for Wednesday’s challenge and was happy to see her family as she descended.

The previous world record was held by the South African athlete Thomas Van Tonder, who climbed 90 meters up a rope between the Soweto Towers in Johannesburg in 2020.
