Giving guidance: Meeting with athletes from University Football Team

A ceremony to give guidance to athletes from University Football Team representing the Ministry of Health which will participate in the 2023 Inter-university Football Tournament was held at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

In his address, Union Minister for Health Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win said that the State is encouraging for the development of football sector that is enjoyed by the people and is holding the inter-ministry and the inter-university football tournaments.

Through the tournaments, the geniuses in football sport and young generation footballers will emerge and they will support a lot the high standard of football sector. The Union Minister called for competing in the tournament with unity and team work based on sport spirit and taking of caring their health and paying attention on academic sector.

Officials are urged to encourage the students from medicine and medical related universities to be able to do various kind of sports depending on their hobbies and only when versatile students who are excellent in sports but also in related medical subjects will emerge.

Later, Deputy Minister for Health Professor Dr Aye Tun reported on plans to be carried out football, swimming and basketball by medicine and medical related universities and holding of more football tournaments among the Universities. After that, supervisor, coach and footballers introduced individually.

2023 Inter-university Football Tournament will be held at the Nay Pyi Taw WunnaTheiki stadium from 22nd June to 4th July. The University Football Team formed with University of Medicine and medical related universities representing the Ministry of Health is comprised of 2 supervisors, 2 coaches and 20 athletes, totaling 24.
