India-ASEAN marine pollution response mission

In a bid to resolve marine pollution in the ASEAN region and bolstering bilateral ties and naval cooperation with Philippine, India on Tuesday dispatched the Indian Coast Guard Ship to Manila Bay.

The Indian Coast Guard ship, a specialized Pollution Control Vessel, aimed at demonstration of Marine Pollution Response capabilities and shared concern and resolve towards Marine Pollution in the ASEAN region.

The ship is equipped with specialized marine pollution control equipment and Chetak Helicopter in Pollution Response configuration, designed to contain, recover spilled oil and augment the operation.
