Inspection of work operation: DPM MoPF Union Minister inspected operation of dry ports

The Deputy Prime Minister and Union Ministry for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, together with the Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn and concerned officials inspected the work operations at the KM DRY PORT and Resources Group DRY PORT in East Dagon Township in Yangon on Wednesday.

During inspection, the officials from KM and RG Dry Ports reported the matters related to the imports and exports, storing and issuing goods as well as goods to be imported and exported using warehouse management systems. 

And, the official from the Customs Department reported import and export at the inland port, the issuance of imported goods and electric vehicles, checking export shipping container at the bonded warehouse. Then, the Director General of the Customs Department gave a supplementary briefing on the operations of the inland port and customs warehouse.

Upon the reports, the Union Minister for Commerce clarified the further cooperation plans by the relevant departments. After hearing the reports, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister stressed that the inland port and customs warehouse operations started in 2020, are being collectively carried out by the Department of Trade, Myanma Railways, and the Customs Department.

He urged all to make concerted efforts for the inland port business to be able to expand to the international community. He emphasized the needs to follow international standards for boosting productivity of industrial products and agricultural exports.

He gave brief instructions upon the plans for direct transportation of imported goods by train to Thilawa port and widely use of E-Lock system. He also said that it is necessary to use X-Ray machines to check the goods at inland ports and to prepare systematic operations. He then oversaw the operations at the inland ports and coordinated the necessary matters.
