London Zoo counts its animals in annual census

Penguins, tigers, giant tortoises, a millipede and zebras were counted by their keepers as London Zoo conducts its annual census. The data is fed into a global database of zoos around the world. Dan Simmonds, animal operations manager at London Zoo, said that the annual census is "critically important" for endangered breeding programmes.
