Monsoon tree planting :Ceremony held at Hlawga National Park in Yangon

Yangon Region Government and related departments organized monsoon tree planting ceremony participating over 1,500 staff at Hlawga National Park in Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region on Tuesday.

Head, Department of Playgrounds, Parks and Gardens, Ko Ko Lin said " Hlawga National Park is in an area of 5,716 acres. Among these areas, trees have been planted over 1,200 acres during the first 5-year and over 260 acres for the 2nd time and trees have been planted in 175.3 acres including this year."

In the ceremony, about 1,550 staff from all departments under Yangon Region Government and Yangon City Development Committee planted more than 27,000 trees.

Head, Department of Playgrounds, Parks and Gardens, Ko Ko Lin said "Aiming to become one of the habitats for animals, plans are underway to grow over 6 million saplings including mango, durian, marian and jack fruit during this rainy season. And also we have a plan to grow over 40,000 trees in Yangon Region and monsoon tree planting activities will be carried out to meet the target of over 80,000 trees till the end of July."

In the monsoon tree planting ceremony on 20th June, 22,000 saplings of iron-wood, 2,500 saplings of Mahawgani, 2,500 saplings of teak were planted, it’s learnt.
