Orientation and opening ceremony: Shan State CM attended opening of medical science courses

The Orientation of the basic medical science course (11/2023) and the opening ceremony of postgraduate medical course (2024-2025) was held at the University of Medicine (Taunggyi) on Tuesday with the attendance by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye.  At the ceremony, the Chief Minister said that the trainees will become medical doctors in near future who could provide healthcare services for the public.

He urged all students to strive for education, try their best in all aspects of medical field as well and strive to become good medical personnel who can shoulder the national duties through theoretical and practical aspects. Then, Rector of the University of Medicine (Taunggyi) Dr. Hla Win Myint received cash of honor provided by the Chief Minister, followed by the presenting awards to the gold medal winner of the higher education level female’s dance competition at 24th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition.

Then, the official from the Department of Human Resources for Health and Rector presented 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes to winners of the essay and poem competitions commemorating the 76th Independence Day and Pro-rector and other academic personnel to the outstanding students of basic medical science course (11/2023), 2nd and 3rd M.B.B.S (12/2019) and 3rd M.B.B.S (5/2022) respectively.

Next, the Chief Minister attended the victorious flag presentation ceremony of Inter-University sports competition (2023-2024) at Keng Tung Hall of the University of Medicine (Taunggyi). Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stressed that Inter-University sports competition is set to be held in grand scale from 9th to 18th January and a total of 82 athletes from Taunggyi, Lashio and Loikaw Universities will be joyously participated with five kinds of sports such as football, volleyball, track and field, sepak takraw and table tennis. 

And, the Chief Minister urged all athletes to compete with full of sportsmanship spirit and perseverance. Then, the Chief Minister presented victorious flag and cash of honor to concerned officials and Rector. And, the Rector reported the issues related to the upcoming sports competition.
