Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa visited the construction site of a new metro station and line in Lisbon. The country, looking to bolster its fight to attain carbon neutrality by 2045, has launched a vast plan to renovate and restructure its public transport network.

Portugal is creating the conditions to bring the target of being carbon neutral forward, from 2050 to 2045 through progress in public transportation, hydrogen, and the end of coal-fueled power stations, Costa said at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).
