Press Statement: CBM clarifies banking situation amid social media rumors

The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) issued a press statement on Thursday regarding the circulation of rumors on social media platforms, saying limited withdrawal of deposited accounts, and advanced salary payment at some private banks.

The statement emphasized that there is no restriction on cash withdrawals from deposited accounts, and banking services remain available at all branches across the country through the Core Banking System.

The CBM reassured the public that banking services and payments can be made conveniently with the use of digital platform and traditional banking services, including withdrawals and deposits, continue to operate seamlessly. The statement also warned of decisive action against those spreading fake news that could harm the interests of the people.
