Raising Awareness: MNHRC Organizes Human Rights Talk

Myanmar National Human Rights Commission hosted a Human Rights Talk in Yangon on Tuesday.

Around 80 people from Insein Township attended the talk, held at Yangon North District Information and Public Relations Department.

The Commission Vice-Chairman and its members as well as the educators who completed human rights training by the Commission talked about the fundamental things of human rights and human dignity, children’s’ rights and women rights to the attendees.

Director, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, Dr. Khine Khine Win said “We need to do things with more transparency for the human rights in Myanmar. As this is very much important to address, the collective efforts of the government, social organizations, and the participation of the people are much needed in reducing and protection the growing cases of women and child abuse.”

The human rights educators also shared the experiences what they learnt at the training to the attendees.

Human Rights Educator, Kyaw Myint said “Our purpose is to share knowledge on human rights and give awareness to all people. The new Child’s Rights Law was enacted in July this year. It’s very great for all children. I will explain about the sections included in the new child’s rights law, and protection work on a series of matters how to get their rights and preventing child sexual abuse.”

Human Rights Educator, Thandar said “Myanmar has already signed three international conventions including CEDAW. The government is also making effort to prevent the cases for violence against women and sexual abuse.” 

Myanmar National Human Rights Commission plans to host the human rights talk in other 16 places including Shwe Pauk Kan, Hlaing Thaya, KawHmue and more.
