SAC Law No. 56/2023: Amendment Law to the Television and Radio Broadcasting Law

The State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar enacted the amendment law to the Television and Radio Broadcasting law as SAC Law No. 56/2023 under section 419 of the Constitution on 16th November.

It stated that the law shall be called the Amendment Law to the Television and Radio Broadcasting Law (2023). Section-2(q) of the law shall be substituted as “Council means the Television and Radio Broadcasting Council which is no more than 9 members including Chairperson and Secretary who are organized by the State Administration Council to monitor and supervise the contents of broadcasting”.

The phrase in Section-7 shall be substituted as “A person who fulfills the following qualifications shall be entitled as a member of the Council.” The phrase in Section-8 shall be substituted as “The following persons shall not be entitled as a member of the Council.”

This law must be enforced until the date after organizing the Union Government according to the election held upon accomplishing the provision of the State of emergency.

For as long as this law is in force, Section 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 included in Chapter (4) and Chapter (5) of the Television and Radio Broadcasting Law shall be deemed to have been revoked.
