Sideline meetings: DPM MOFA UM met with his ASEAN counterparts

On the sidelines of the 8th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Beijing, People’s Republic of China,U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar met with Mr. Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia at 9 AM on 7 December 2023, at the Diaoyutai State Guest House.At the Meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views and discussed a wide range of topics, including strengthening of the longstanding friendship, expanding mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation particularly in the areas of tourism, religion and culture and promoting people-to-people exchanges, as well as rendering mutual support in regional and international arenas.

At 10:30 AM on the same day, U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar met with Mr. ParnpreeBahiddha Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand at at China World Hotel in Beijing.

At the meeting, both sides cordially exchanged views on the further enhancement of existing cordial relations and bilateral cooperation, and also discussed matters related to the maintenance of peace and stability and security along the border, promoting people-to-people contacts, the possibility of providing bilateral humanitarian assistance for the people along the border, repatriation of Thai nationals stranded in Myanmar’s north-eastern border areas, promotion of legal rights and protection of Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand as well as closer collaboration in both regional and multilateral arenas including ASEAN.
