The Opening Ceremony of Judo Coach and Referee Training Course No. (1/2023) under the Sports and Physical Education Department of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and Myanmar Judo Federation was held at the Multipurpose Hall of Gold Camp in Nay Pyi Taw on 20th June.

On the occasion, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan delivered an opening speech saying that Judo is the traditional game of Japanese people and that tradition of bowing each other respectfully is important.

Therefore, bowing each other is to be learnt initially while doing Judo. Mr. HIRRANUMA YAMATO from All Japan Judo Federation will be lecturing all the techniques and thus, it is a great opportunity for the coaches to learn within the short period. Also, this training course can benefit the Judo Competition of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) which will be held in November 2023 and Region/State Judo Competition which will be held in 2024 January.

The Union Minister added that the State is encouraging the sports sector and honoring those outstanding coaches and athletes. Myanmar could only fetch one silver and three bronze medals by Judo team at 32nd SEA Games.

Therefore, weakness and strengths have to be reviewed and make more efforts for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games. He highlighted that as the role of qualified coaches is important, he would like to request the trainees/trainers attending this course to strive to become more competent, excellent, and good coaches in order to continuously turn out new generations of athletes with good fundamentals and passion in their assigned areas.

The ceremony came to an end after taking documentary photos.
