Tanzania president orders rescue efforts as landslide death toll hits 47

The death toll from landslides triggered by torrential rains that struck northern Tanzania has climbed to 47 and 85 others were injured, a local official said on Sunday.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan, in Dubai for the COP28 climate conference, sends her condolences and says she had ordered the deployment of "äll government resources" to the scene.
