While the country celebrates the significant traditional Thingyan Festival, terrorists have committed destructive acts, aiming to cause panic among the public by launching attacks on residential areas. They utilized drop bombs, heavy weapons, short-range missiles, and improvised mines.
On April 14th, terrorists launched eleven 107 mm short-range missiles at Pyin Oo Lwin in Mandalay Region, resulting in explosions at the Orthopaedic Ward of People’s Hospital, Aung Myay Zeya Monastery, a Luxury Hotel, No.5 Ward, Bala Min Htin Ward, and Sabae Ward.
The explosions claimed the lives of two monks and two civilians, with 12 others injured. Necessary healthcare services were provided to the injured persons.
The launching of attacks on residential areas violates the Geneva Convention, and it can be deemed a war crime according to international law. Tight security measures are in place to effectively address the perpetrators. Locals are called upon to cooperate with security forces by providing information on terrorists.
