University Tour: SAC Chairman visits Pathein University

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing paid a visit to Pathein University in Ayeyawaddy Region on Saturday morning.
During his visit, the Senior General and party toured around the Convocation hall and gave necessary instructions upon the relevant officials’ reports. Upon the meeting with the Senior General and academic personnel at the University meeting hall, the Rector Dr. Than Tun gave a brief presentation about the educational matters related to appointing teaching and admin staff, constructions of students and teachers’ dormitories, library and teaching facilities as well as arrangements for food and accommodation.
Next, Union Minister for Education, Dr. Nyunt Pe and Ayeyawaddy Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win gave additional explanation concerning with educational needs, cleanliness and beautifying of the Pathein University and its surroundings respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General emphasized the importance of following the law and order which is the basis principle of democracy and the need to promote economic awareness for economic development. Law and basic management subjects are being conducted in all universities for students to make them understand and learn about law and to ensure economic awareness for the next generation of youths who will lead the country in the future.
And, it also aims for the graduates to improve their socio-economic life and environment after graduation, the Senior General said. Arts education related to creative thinking are needed to encourage for the emergence of good philosophers in additional to those who have scientific knowledge for the development of the country.
The Senior General expressed that he himself is encouraging education from all aspects and providing academic awards. He emphasized that taking the state responsibilities as a government is just temporary, but the academic staff and civil service personnel will always serve for the nation’s duties. While the government implements its policy, the civil service personnel serve their duties for the good of the country.
The Prime Minister urged academic staff to focus on national issues rather than politics, serve national duties and make exerted efforts to turn out educated human resources that are needed for the country. Then, the Senior General and party toured around the campus of university and library and coordinated the needs based on the officials' reports.
