US President Joe Biden launches his 2024 reelection campaign

US President Joe Biden launched his 2024 reelection campaign in Pennsylvania on Friday.  Biden announced his candidacy for re-election for a second and final term as president on April 25, 2023, with Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate.

During his campaign, Biden warned that Donald Trump’s efforts to retake the White House in 2024 pose a grave threat to the country. He said that twice-impeached former president Trump had failed to prevent the Capitol mob assault in 2021, and accused him and his supporters of still embracing political violence.

 Biden warned that if Trump won a second term in the White House then democracy itself was at risk.
