To strengthen the economy and preserve culture, the Kapo Kale Ikat weaving community in Manulondo village of East Nusa Tenggara, province of Indonesia always use natural materials in the production process.

The daily life of the Ndona community, especially the women at the ‘Kapo Kale’ weaving group, always sticks with traditional ways like they keep on using natural materials in making woven fabrics, despite the modernization in such productions.

The women do know well how to preserve the culture, a method which can also strengthen the local economy. The village has recruited young people for a special training in woven fabrics made from natural materials. To strengthen the organization, this weaving group, has also sent representatives to Bali to learn about production and marketing.
