Chinese scientists have made multiple achievements in hydrologic, meteorological, physical experiments during the 13th expedition to the Arctic Ocean.

During their expedition, the Chinese scientists established an "ice station" at about 84 degrees north latitude and carried out multiple hydrologic, meteorological, physical experiments within four days.

Through such a parameter, it is possible to analyze the ice resistance during the collision between the ice and a ship. It is the first time to use a high-speed hammer to more accurately simulate the collision between the sea ice and an icebreaker.

The expedition team departed from Shanghai on July 12 aboard the Xuelong 2, or Snow Dragon 2, the country's first domestically built polar icebreaker. The team is now returning to Shanghai after a trip of about 15,500 nautical miles.
