Coffee cultivation and export: MoALI held a meeting for expansion of coffee cultivation

The meeting on coffee cultivation and exporting was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 27th April and attended by the Union Minister U Min Naung, Departmental officials, Chairman and executive members of Myanmar Coffee Association and coffee entrepreneurs.
In his remark at the meeting, Union Minister U Min Naung said this meeting is conducted to discuss the requirement for increasing of coffee cultivation with the collective effort of the coffee entrepreneurs under the leading of Myanmar Coffee Association as there are invitations of demand for the export of coffee to the new market. Apart from the domestic consumption and current export of coffee, market potentials will be assessed to export the new market for the long-term interest of the coffee entrepreneurs and the stability of coffee export sector. The coffee association is urged to provide the statistics of coffee cultivation and coffee export in order to set the policies for the development of coffee sector and provide the necessary assistances by the government.
Next, the Director General Dr. Ye Tint Tun of the Department of Agriculture clarified the status of coffee seed yielding as per the Regions and States in 2023-2024 fiscal year according to the statistics of domestic coffee cultivation collected by the relevant departments, amount sold and estimated inventory balance, export of coffee seed, coffee powder and various types of coffee mix, estimated land area for coffee cultivation in Regions and States to extend 100,000 acres of coffee cultivation and other matters.
Next, the Chairman of Myanmar Coffee Association and coffee entrepreneurs reported the requirements of domestic coffee cultivation and the industrial requirements for expansion of market and the Union minister and officials gave supplemented discussion.
