Hangzhou prepares medical, logistical support for Asian Games

Organizers in Hangzhou on Wednesday revealed extensive preparations for the largest-ever athlete delegations at the upcoming Asian Games which will officially open on Saturday.

Hangzhou, the main host city of the 19th Asian Games in east China's Zhejiang Province, held a press conference to brief the media about the preparation work for the upcoming continental sporting event.

This year's edition is set to be the largest ever, with around 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and regions competing in 40 sports, 61 disciplines, and 481 events. In terms of language services, both on-site and remote interpretation are available, and athletes can dial the interpretation hotline in nine languages including Chinese, Arabic, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese, the spokesman said.

In terms of medical support, more than 40 hospitals have signed to become designated medical hospitals for the Asian Games. About 127 medical points will operate in core sports zones, joined by 133 medical rooms across different facilities and 83 spectator treatment areas. Organizers have deployed air ambulance helicopters to remote outdoor events. There have 1,884 medical personnel during the Asian Games, the spokesmen said.
