Int’l Assistance for storm-hit people: Relief aids sent by AMS handed over for the 2nd batch

Two C-130 aircrafts from Singapore air force carried by a total of over 15,550-kg tons of emergency aids worth the estimation of over 60,000 USD sent by ASEAN member states to cyclone-affected people in Myanmar arrived at Yangon International Airport on Monday afternoon.

The relief aids arrived as the 2nd batch were handed over to officials from ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) and the Natural Disaster Management Center of Yangon Region Government to continue to transport to the cyclone-prone areas.

In the coming days, the disaster relief supplies from ASEAN countries will continue to arrive and the total value of aids including the 1st and 2nd batches will be about 1.65 million US dollars. These items will be transported for about 19 times by Thai, Singapore and Indonesia military aircrafts via the warehouses in Suban of Malaysia and Chai Nat in Thailand under the Disaster Emergency Logistics System.

According to ASEAN Declaration on One ASEAN, One Response, ASEAN member states provide assistance to the storm-hit people.

The Government practices the plan on “No affected person left behind in providing relief and assistances” and with the supervision of the National Disaster Management Center, the Region and State governments are coordinating with relevant ministries in a timely manner as well as fully cooperating with AHA center and respective international organizations.
