Lumut Helicopter Crash Report Says Pilots Fit To Fly

The two Royal Malaysian Navy helicopters collided while on a training routine for the 90th Naval Day celebration on 23rd April in Lumut, Malaysia.

There were airworthy at the time of the incident, according to the preliminary report on the tragedy. The Navy said that maintenance on both helicopters followed procedures and the routine set by the Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Data analysis from the Multi-Purpose Flight Data Recorder was received on 3rdMay and is being further analyzed by the Investigation Board. On Thursday, the statement by the Navy said that all air crewmen were in fine health to handle the aircraft and fit to do so based on their qualifications on the day of the incident on Thursday. The final report is expected to be finished by 29th May.
