The White House announced on Monday that the inaugural summit between the United States, Japan and the Philippines would be held on 11th April in Washington. The trilateral meeting will also come on the heels of Kishida’s state visit to Washington on April 10.

At the summit, three leaders will focus on bolstering trilateral cooperation on inclusive economic growth, emerging technologies, clean energy supply chains and climate cooperation. The three countries have been working to bolster trilateral defense cooperation including by holding joint patrols in the South China Sea as part of moves that could pave the way for a more formal three-way security framework.
