False Narratives: Media outlets spreads misinformation

In recent events, one the destructive media outlets, RFA, claimed that Tatmadaw air strike near MyaungBway Village in Mrauk-U Township of Rakhine State on December 28th, resulting in casualties. However, the investigation uncovered that the incident involved a drone attack by the AA insurgent group on the MyaungBway Police Station, leading to a counteraction by security forces.

No Tatmadaw air strike occurred on the specified date. Similarly, KhitThit Media reported casualties from a Tatmadaw heavy weapon attack at two villages in Buthitaung Township, but an official from the area clarified that the injuries were caused by an AA insurgent group's attack on security forces, not a Tatmadaw-led assault on villages.

These reports are the deliberated effort by certain media outlets to support terrorist acts by fabricating news, thus tarnishing the image of Tatmadaw and sowing discord among the population.
