Labour affairs: MoL Union Minister met with Myanmar workers in Thailand

To be able to conduct discussion between Myanmar-Thailand Labor Ministers’ Meeting for cooperation labor affairs between the two countries, a delegation led by Union Minister for Labor U Myint Naung who is currently in Thailand met with MoU Myanmar workers at Asian Seafoods Industry in Surat Thani city. During the meeting, a representative from the Ministry of Immigration and Population Myanmar made explanations on EID system, 2% taxation by the representative from the Ministry of Planning and Finance Myanmar and demonstration of transferring cash legally through Remittance Management System Mobile Application to their families in Myanmar.

Then, the Union Minister coordinated the requirements of the workers and enjoyed the lunch together. During the arrival at Sure Tex factory, the Union Minister also met with MoU Myanmar workers and encouraged them. And, the Union Minister and party inspected the place where Certificate of Identity (CI) Camp plans to open. In accordance with the dicision of Thiland government, Myanmar workers who booked for Stay Permit and WorkPermit (Pink VisaCard) have been extended their stay and work permits from 1st October 2023 to 13th February 2025, implementations for applying work permits before 15th January 2024, medical checkup and purchasing health insurance are needed to conduct. 

As Myanmar government, implementations are underway to open 5 CI camps and 3 Mobile Teams. Likewise, for convenience of workers, Mobile Teams are planned to open as much as possible.
