Myanmar / India: Commander-In-Chief Calls On Prime Minister

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing called on Indian Prime Minister and Chairman of National Security Council Narendra Damodardas Modi on Monday afternoon.

In the meeting at his residence in New Delhi, the Indian Prime Minister thanked Myanmar for its cooperation to ensure peace and stability of border region.

He pledged to accelerate cooperation between the 2 countries and the 2 armed forces. The meeting focused on further promotion of assistance for uplift of capability of Myanmar Tatmadaw, situation for cooperation between the two countries and peace and stability in Rakhine State. 

Also, the Senior General met with National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, Deputy Minister of Defence, Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of the Naval Staff separately.

They discussed cementing relations between the two countries and two armed forces, cooperation in ensuring peace and stability in border region and progress of cooperation in socio-economic development of ethnic peoples at the border region of two countries.

They also held talks on cooperation of India with Myanmar as a good neighbour friend under the Act East Policy and needs to cooperate in Indian Ocean security.
